Dave, 41, is originally from England. He started climbing at the age of 14 and has been hooked ever since. HIs climbing adventures have included numerous first ascents in Britain and the UK.
He has a degree in mathematics from the University of Sheffield and a Masters degree in operational research from the University of Lancaster. He has worked as a research student, sponsored climber, marketing analyst, writer, climbing magazine editor, and most recently book publisher.
Dave moved to the US in 1996 and founded Wolverine Publishing in 2001. He lives in Silt, Colorado, with his wife, Fiona, 3 dogs, 2 cats, and 5 horses.
Andy Wellman • Vice President
Andy, 27, is a native Coloradoan who was born and raised in what he calls "the black hole," i.e. the suburbs of southern Denver. He learned to ski and climb as a kid thanks to his parents, who were always up for an adventure in the beautiful Colorado Rockies.
When he was 18 he moved to Boulder to study at the University of Colorado. This transition gave him the personal freedom he had been yearning for: he became obsessed with climbing, pretty much quit resort skiing, and promptly dropped out of school to chase his climbing dreams in Yosemite and the West.
Eventually he returned to CU and completed a bachelor's degree in English Literature and, after 7 years living in Boulder, moved to Rifle, CO, with his girlfriend Jill, in order to be closer to the state's best sport climbing and to explore the skiing around Aspen.
Currently focused on sport climbing, Andy has a love for all types of climbing which has led him to climb technical ice routes on 6000m peaks, solo El Capitan, and redpoint 5.13 climbs. He is also an avid backcountry skier, and is thrilled about the never-ending potential for ski exploration in the Elk Mountains near his home.
